RE: VIDEO: Annular Solar Eclipse and Hot Air Balloons 10/14/2023

No traffic in Winnemucca, NV, where I was in the 100% path for the annular eclipse :) But that's pretty cool to be at the balloon festival with the eclipse! Thanks for working hard to make the video! I would agree that a full eclipse (which I saw in 2017) is a more spectacular event. However, this one was still pretty special! Are you planning a trip for next year's total solar eclipse?

RE: Can anyone identify this lake?

Peyto Lake...about 1/2 hour north of Lake Louise (according to Google map) along Icefields Pkwy.

RE: Highway 89 in Utah

Curious where you are looking that 89 looks like a dirt road? As others wrote, you should have no problem driving that section of 89.

RE: Flying J RV discount Card

TenOC...I have no problem getting the $.05 per gallon discount on gas. Have gotten it at many Pilot/Flying J gas stations. At the pump, I scan my Good Sam membership card (first, if I recall correctly), then I scan my credit card (no need for a special Flying J credit/charge card), then the pump prices change to $.05 lower, then I pump my gas. I see at the bottom of the website mentioned above, in fine print is: "Discount available at company owned and operated Pilot Flying J locations." Maybe there are non-company owned stations where you have tried to get the discount??

RE: i pad or ?

I think it has to do with personal preference. Imagine doing the things you mentioned on your phone, but a bigger screen. That's basically what a tablet is. I prefer my laptop, with a mouse and real keyboard. I have a friend who does everything on her phone. I could never do that! I do have a small tablet (not an iPad) but only use it for games, which I do like it for. Are you a Mac/iPhone owner? Is that why you are considering an iPad? If not, there are several Android tablets. I use a Mac laptop, Windows laptop in the household, and Android phone and tablet. But not everyone is tri-lingual :) All these electronics travel with us!

RE: Epson Printer Question

LouLawrence...That's what I thought when I looked at the spec sheet. But if you look at the printer on Costco.com, and find the picture with the dimensions, it shows the height 10.2" without the input paper tray.

RE: From a class C to class A ??

We are a couple who went from Class C to Class A as we retired. We had a 23' Class C and bought a 28' Class A before we retired...to be sure we could pay for it (haha!). That Class A looked soooo big to us at first! Now we've had our 32' Class A for about 10 years and love it. All were bought used. We used to move around alot when RVing. Now we go on 3-6 month trips and stay longer in some areas. Having room for a walk-around bed, a recliner chair, a full-length couch and dinette has been very beneficial to us. Also, the Class A's have more basement storage, which is great. The other thing we love is the view from a Class A, since it sits higher and has a big unobstructed window. I always look online at RVs...kind of a hobby. Sure, we'd like to buy a newer motorhome, but it's probably not in the cards. Anyway, I do have a crush on the Tiffin Allegro 34TGA :) I'd take the 32BA also. I've never heard of 32TS, nor could I find it online. We have absolutely no regrets in going to a Class A.

RE: Winnemucca, NV to Las Vegas

Wow! I had to look that up. Interesting! Hopefully they will be gone by October!

RE: Arizona highway update...

Thanks for the report, Desert Captain! Good timing, because we leave in our mh soon. We generally take 89A when driving our car up to Flagstaff...only go north on I-17 with the mh. When driving home from last summer's trip from the west, I didn't want to drive south on I-17 from Flagstaff, so I exited I-40 at Ashfork onto Hwy 89, down through Prescott Valley and over to I-17 taking it north to Sedona. Hopefully at the end of this summer's trip, I-17 southbound between Flag and Hwy 179 exit will be smoooooth! Glad to read the Lake Marys are full. Been wanting to take a day trip up there.

Winnemucca, NV to Las Vegas

I'm hoping to go to Winnemucca or Battle Mountain for the annular solar eclipse in October. After that, I'll be driving to Las Vegas. Wondering how Hwys 305 and 376 are south from Battle Mountain? I've driven the RV on 95, 93, and 50 in Nevada. Are these about the same....desolate pretty good condition, easy driving two lane roads with a few wide spots to pull over once in awhile? Anything I should know about them?
